Claiming anti-liberation forces manipulated Razakars’ list to enshrine Pakistani doctrine in the country, Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee chief Shahriar Kabir has demanded a judicial probe into the recently 'suspended' list.
“Ghulam Azam and his accomplices wanted to establish Pakistani doctrine by assassinating Bangabandhu after independence. They, too, conspired with the collaborators' list. A judicial investigation should be carried out to find out the perpetrators and bring them to book,” he said.
He made the call while addressing the first council of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee district unit at Rangamati on Friday (Jan 3).
Shahriar said the home ministry had the list of 11,000 people who faced charges of crimes against humanity as those were convicted when Bangabandhu was in power.
“During 2001-05 tenure, the BNP-Jamaat government included few names of the Freedom Fighters to the collaborators' list to create controversy after getting the list published,” he added.
On Dec 15 last year, the government published the first instalment of the list of 10,789 people, who collaborated with the Pakistani occupation forces during Liberation War in 1971.
The list had left people astonished after it was revealed that it includes names of several freedom fighters along with pro-liberation individuals
As it drew huge criticisms, the government put the list on hold on Dec 19.
