Four die as cargo vessel sinks in Buriganga

Four workers have died after a sand-laden cargo vessel sank in the Buriganga River in Narayanganj.
The cargo vessel “Tahmina Express” sank in the early hours of Friday (Jan 3), said fire service official.
The deceased have been identified as Mostafa, 55, Babu, 19, Lutfar Rahman, 40, and Mohibullah, 60, said Fatullah police OC Mohammad Aslam Hossain before adding, “Two members of the vessel were rescued after the incident.”
Quoting the master of the affected vessel, Fatullah Faire Service Senior Station Officer Mohammad Kajol Miah said, “The sand-laden cargo, waiting for repair work at the dockyard, sank anytime after 2.30am on Friday, leaving four staff dead. The master of the vessel and another person was rescued from the scene”
“Police have kept the bodies at Keraniganj police station,” added Kajol Miah.
