At least three were killed and 15 others injured as a pick-up truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Laxmipur.

The incident was reported from the Sadar Upazila’s Muktiganj early on Thursday (Jan 2).

The deceased have been identified as Khorshed, Rafiq, and Mafiz all of whom were from Abirnagar of Sadar upazila.

Eyewitnesses claimed the accident took place around 9 am when a Chandraganj bound pick-up van carrying twenty construction workers plunged into a roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the vehicle.

All three were killed on the spot, said Anower Hossain, resident medical officer of Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.

After the incident, the pickup driver escaped from the spot, said Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
