Md Mojibul HuqMinistry of Liberation War Affairs has published the first part of a list of collaborators during the war of independence in 1971. This list contains the name of convener of Muktijuddho Sangram Parishad of Patharghata thana in Barguna, Md Mojibul Huq, which has sparked anger among people in Barguna.
It’s known that Mojibul Huq was a member of the Muktijuddho Parishad and was also a relief committee president of Patharghata after the war.
He also competed in the 1986 election from the area under AL’s symbol of boat. Former freedom fighter and commander, Abdur Rashid, said: “Mojibul is an honest man; I do not know how his name got into the list of collaborators. The administration wanted a list of Razakars and we gave them one but his name was not in it.”
Freedom fighter Sukhranjan Shil, added: “It’s unfortunate that his name is on the list; we protest this in the strongest possible manner.”
Mojibul Huq’s son, Advocate Rezaul Huq Shahin, observed: “My father was an organizer of freedom fighters and was a member of the Barguna Sangram Parishad; the list is concocted and baseless.”
“I am requesting the PM to withdraw the list,” he added.
Meanwhile, Patharghata UNO, Md Humayun Kabir, added: “We are not aware of the list of Raazakars and therefore, it won’t be proper to make a comment on it.”
