A wild elephant crushed a leg of a farmer to death at Joystopura village in Chattogram’s Boalkhali Upazila, reports BSS.
The incident was reported around 6am on Monday (Dec 16), said police.
The victim was identified as 42-year-old Rupon Das.
Boalkhali police said the elephant attacked Rupon while he was working at his vegetable field.
Boalkhali police OC Helal Uddin Faruki said a group of wild elephant has taken shelter at Karaldanga Hill in the upazila and damaged houses and crops in the area since last month.
Boalkhali upazila Nirbahi officer Achia Begum told the media that necessary steps will be taken in this regard.
