Law Minister Anisul Huq has said the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division rejected jailed BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s bail plea as it did not find her health condition to be critical.
“After hearing the lawyers’ arguments and scrutinizing her medical report, the court did not find the necessary ground to grant her bail. She is not so sick,” he said on Friday (Dec 13).
Speaking at a programme in Brahmanbaria’s Akhaura Upazila, Anisul said BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami and their predecessor in state power Jatiya Party virtually wanted to turn the country into a failed state and a land of beggars.
The minister said, “BNP and Jamaat still don’t believe in independent Bangladesh.
“But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made Bangladesh known as a role model of development,” he added.
