No crossing through Tamabil border

Amid a curfew in the Indian state of Meghalaya’s capital Shillong in the aftermath of violent clashes over India’s controversial citizenship law, no tourists from Bangladesh are being allowed to enter the country through Tamabil border in Sylhet, says an official.
The Indian immigration authorities bar the tourists on the Dawki crossing point along Tamabil border as a curfew is underway in Shillong since on Thursday (Dec 12), said Aminul Islam, additional superintendent of police (media) of Sylhet.
According to sources at Tamabil immigration, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) stopped allowing people from Bangladesh without prior notice causing miseries the travellers.
The BSF is not allowing the tourists due to security concerns, said Islam adding the crossing through Tamabil-Dawki border may start on Sunday (Dec 15).
