A female worker has been killed and another injured as a boiler at a sweater factory exploded in Ashulia of Dhaka's Savar.
The incident occurred at Natural Village Sweater Ltd factory in the Khejurbagan area of Ashulia on Tuesday (Dec 10) morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rima Khatun, who worked at the nearby readymade garment factory Murad Apparels Limited.
The injured worker - whose identity has not been confirmed yet- was sent to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, said Ashulia DEPZ Fire unit’s Senior Station Officer Jahangir Alam.
Quoting witnesses, fire service officials said a wall of the sweater factory collapsed on the pedestrians of the road due to the sudden explosion.
Rima and the other worker were walking down the road which is adjacent to both factories, when the wall fell down on them, killing Rima on the spot.
