Protest at nine jute mills in Khulna continues

Workers put fire on tyres at a demo in front of Khulan`s Khalishpur Jute Mill on Tuesday (Dec 3)Jute mill workers in Khulna have continued protest for the fourth day to press home their 11-point demands which include the clearance of outstanding wages, a wage commission, gratuities, provident fund payments, and making transfer workers permanent.
Workers have started the strike at 6am on Tuesday (Dec 3) as a part of their preannounced 6-day protest, confirms Murad Hossain, joint secretary of State-Owned Jute Mills (CBA)-Non CBA Sangram Parisad.

Workers have held sit-in protest at Crescent Jute Mill gate in Khulna on Tuesday (Dec 3)
Apart from the abstention in work, the workers have held demonstration and rally at different jute mills’ gate since Tuesday morning.
Workers from Crescent, Platinum, Khalishpur, Daulatpur of Khulna Industrial area, Star of Dighaliya Industrial Area, Alim and Eastern of Atra Industrial Area and Carpeting and JJI of Nawapara Industrial area have stopped production and gathered at their respective mill gates on Tuesday morning.
