The party’s microcredit affairs secretary Abdur Razzaque and central committee member Shariar Hossain Chowdhury along with Mayor Arif handed in their resignation to Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday (Nov 3).
“We have handed over our resignation letter to party’s secretary general. He assured solution to the problem. No immediate decision regarding our resignation came from the party,” Shariar told Bangla Tribune.
“We will not depend on anyone for our political career and service. Many in the party are ready to walk out,” he added.
Claiming the new committees are elected in line with instructions from London, Mayor Arif said, leaders, who have been facing torture and oppression, did not get the reward in it.
The decision came at an urgent meeting on Friday (Nov 1) a day after BNP’s youth affiliate Jubo Dal announced the Sylhet city and district units’ committees.
