The Detective Branch (DB) in Narayanganj has seized liquor, yaba and bullets from a vehicle owned by Showkat Aziz Russell, the son of Partex Group founder MA Hashem.
The DB personnel stopped his SUV in Signboard area of Siddhirganj around 2:45am on Saturday (Nov 2) and seized 28 bullets, 1,200 yaba tablets, 24 bottles of foreign liquor, 28 cans of beer, and cash Tk 22,380 from the car.
Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Harun-or-Rashid disclosed the matter at a press conference at his office on Saturday afternoon.
He said three people have been detained in this connection.
They are - Farah Russell, wife of Showkat, their son Anab Aziz, and the car driver Sumon.
Later on, Farah and Anab were released under the custody of MA Hashem.
Two cases have been filed with Siddhirganj police station, the SP said.
The cases were filed under arms and narcotics laws, he added.
