An Awami League leader has been killed by a group of miscreants at Khagrachhari’s Dighinala Upazila on Friday (Nov 1).
The deceased, upazila’s Merung Union AL ward unit President Md Shakil, 52, was found hung at union’s Rengkarzya area late on Friday night, confirms local chairman Rahman Kabir Ratan.
Ratan, who is also Union’s AL general secretary, said, “Shakil went to Rengkarzya on personal purpose. We were informed about his murder at night.”
Dighinala police OC Uttam Chandra Deb said, “We recovered the body of Md Shakil from Rengkarzya area.”
The body has been sent to Khagrachori Modern Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
“We will identify the miscreants as soon as possible,” he assured.
