Another dies of dengue in Khulna

Seventy seven-year-old Ibrahim Sheikh died around 1am on Friday (Oct 25) while being treated at Khulna City Medical College Hospital (KCMC), the hospital’s medical officer Dr Gopal Biswas confirmed.
He was admitted to the hosptial on Wednesday (Oct 23) when he was diagonised with dengue, said Dr Biswas.
The victim’s son Ibnul Hasan Minar said, "My father was suffering from fever and respiratory problems since Tuesday. He was admitted to Khulna Islami Bank Hospital and where the hospital authorities referred him to be admitted to KMCH.”
“Later, he died at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU),” added the deceased’s son.
Dengue situation in Bangladesh
Till Thursday (Oct 24) morning, 74 new patients were admitted in Dhaka, and 136 in districts outside Dhaka.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier, the Aedes mosquito.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a media release issued on Thursday, said the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country was 982.
A total of 107 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from Jan 1 till Oct 24, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be around 188, so far.
As many as 410 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 532 people were undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since Jan 1 till Oct 24, as many as 94,475 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 93,285 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
