Two ‘drug peddlers’ were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Motijharna area in the port city’s Khulshi early Friday, RAB sources said.
The victims could not be identified yet.
Members of the elite force challenged a microbus at the area and started searching inside, said RAB SeniorAassistant Director Mimtanur Rahman.
The alleged drug peddlers opened fire on the law enforcers forcing them to fire back in self-defence.
After a brief skirmish, RAB recovered the bodies of two criminals.
The elite force recovered 85 kilograms of cannabis, one firearm from the vehicle.
