Muhtasim Fuad was arrested over the beating and killing of Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Fuad is the number two accused in the case and his family members were devastated when they heard of Fuad’s involvement in the tragic incident.

The people of Fuad’s village in Feni have expressed astonishment over the incident.
Fuad is A student of BUET’s 14th batch and was the joint president of BUET Chhatra League. He has already been ousted from the party.
UP member of Fuad’s village Sarwar Masud, said: “Fuad’s father worked in the army’s medical corps and to meeet the academic expenses of his sons took a job at the Sena Kalyan’s Dhaka office after retirement.”
Fuad passed the SSC and HSC exams with golden GPA but his arrest left his family distraught.
Ghopal union parishad chairman, FM Azizul Huq, said: “I cannot believe such a meritorious student could beat another to death.”
“We always knew him as a well behaved boy and his father used to harbor high hopes about his son . Now that dream is shattered,” said Huq.
Fuad’s father, Abu Taher, said over phone: “I had lot of hopes pinned on him and now am crestfallen! I do not know why he got involved in politics in the first place.”
After the incident,' He phoned me and said he had just come back to the dorm from giving private tuition,' he added.
“He told me that the police called him for assistance,” he said and demanded a proper investigation of the incident.
