Awami League (AL) and BNP are playing a blame game over violating electoral rules at Rajshahi city corporation polls.
Propaganda, intimidation and vandalising campaign offices are the allegations that were brought by the parties against each other.
So far, AL mayor candidate AHM Khairuzzaman Liton Sunday filed 17 while BNP candidate Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul filed 16 allegations before the Rajshahi regional election office.
Assistant Returning Officer Atiur Rahman said, “We received the allegations and investigated couple of them. We found no electoral rules are violated.”
Liton said, “BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists are busy in creating negative issues in the polls. They are trying to pollute the polls environment by violating electoral code of conduct.”
However, Bulbul said, “Awami League with assistance from the administration is trying to create non level-playing field environment and put forward a series of allegations.”
He said the returning officer tended to turn a deaf ear to such allegations.
