Fraudster in Norail swindles Tk 15 million promising jobs in armyIn Norail, a person called Romjan Sikder is accused of swindling thirty young men of around Tk 15 million by giving them bogus appointment letters for jobs in the army.
Currently, in hiding in the face of public wrath, it’s believed that Romjan, a resident of Kathadhura village, has built a house with the wealth acquired through fraud.
Locals allege that saying that his brother in law is a warrant officer with connections, Romajan weaved a web of deceit and took the money, promising jobs in the military.
Fraudster in Norail swindles Tk 15 million promising jobs in armyOne victim, a fisherman, sold his land, took money on interest and gave Tk 500,000 to Romjan, who in turn, handed a false appointment letter to the son.
Another person gave Tk 1.1 million.
“We were taken to Dhaka and kept in a hotel in Mirpur near the cantonment; next day, a person came from the cantonment and gave us appointment letters for gardeners and we gave Romjan Tk 1.1 million,” said two other distraught victims.

In similar fashion, around thirty young men were hoodwinked by Romjan from villages in Lohagara and Kalia. Around 19 persons were given false appointment letters for the post of gardener.
When journalists went to talk to Romjan’s home, his irate wife lashed out saying: “why have you come? My husband is in Dhaka.”
