Eight Myanmar citizens held with 200,000 yaba tablets

The arrestees have been identified as Md Doila, 20, Md Robi Alam, 17, Md Alam, 25, Md Shafiqul, 18, Md Noor, 18, Md Noor Alam, 30, Ali Ajmod, 20 and Nurul Amin, 35.Bangladesh Coast Guard held eight Myanmar citizens with 200,000 yaba tablets from Saint Martin’s Island.
The arrests were made in the early hours of Friday (Sept 20) from south-eastern sea area in the Bay of Bengal, said coast guard official.
The arrestees have been identified as Md Doila, 20, Md Robi Alam, 17, Md Alam, 25, Md Shafiqul, 18, Md Noor, 18, Md Noor Alam, 30, Ali Ajmod, 20 and Nurul Amin, 35.
“Tipped off, a team of Teknaf Coast Guard Station led by its commander Lt Shohel Rana conducted a drive in the area and seized 200,000 yaba tablets from a fishing trawler,” said Bangladesh Coast Guard station officer Lt Commander Saiful Islam.
“Eight Myanmar citizens were also held during the raid,” added the coast guard official.
The detainees are being quizzed, added Lt Shohel.
