A schoolboy has died after he has run over by a truck at Khanjanpur in Joypurhat municipality town.

The deceased is Tasnimul Hasan, a sixth grader of Khanjanpur High School and son of Belal Hossain of Adarshapara Moholla in Joypurhat town.

Tasnimul was riding his cycle to school when the truck ran him over in the Khanjanpur playground area on the Joypurhat-Mongolbari road around 10 pm on Wednesday (Aug 21), police said quoting witnesses.

The boy died on the spot.

Hundreds of students from Tasnimul’s school blocked the road to protest at the incident. The blockade was lifted after half an hour when the local administration assured to take measures.

“The truck has been seized and efforts are underway to nab the driver,” said Joypurhat Sadar police station Officer in Charge Rayhan Hossain.
