Three people have been killed and at least 15 others injured in a collision between two buses in Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogura.
The accident took place in Aria Bazar area of the upazila on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway around 2:00pm on Wednesday (Aug 14), said police.
The deceased are Khairul Anam, 55, son of the late Abdullahel Kafi and resident of Kamar Kachhna village in Rangpur Sadar upazila, his wife Ranu Begum, 50, and driver of an Ahad Enterprise bus who is yet to be identified.
Police and Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said that all of the injured had been admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
Seven of the injured are in critical condition, the sources said.
Officer in Charge of Shahjanhanpur police Sushanto Kumar said that the accident occurred when a Rangpur-bound bus of Shyamoli Poribahan lost control and hit the Dhaka-bound bus of Ahad Enterprise.
The injured were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the couple and the driver of the Ahad Enterprise bus died.
