3 killed as villagers clash in Mymensingh

MymensinghThree people were killed and two others injured in a clash that broke out between two groups over the ownership of a piece of land at Khathaldangi village in Iswarganj upazila of Mymensingh. 

The deceased were identified as Jahirul, Hasim Uddin and Azizul Haq of the village. Hashim’s sons Khairul and Mazharul were injured on Wednesday (Aug 14) morning.

Iswarganj Police Station Inspector (investigation) Joynal Abedin said that Abdul Rashid and his cousin Hasim had been at loggerheads for a long time over the land dispute.

"Five people were injured when the two sides fought pitched battles at 9:30am," he said.

Locals took them to Iswarganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Jahirul dead.

"The others were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). Hasim and Azizul died while being taken there," the inspector said.

Khairul and Mazharul are being treated at MMCH.
