Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kanthalbari river route have regained normalcy with a total of 17 ferries operating on the route.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Kanthalbari terminal Deputy General Manager Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury said that every ferry was being kept in queue at the mouth of the one-way channel for around 10 minutes.
Around 2,141 vehicles of various sizes had crossed the river through the Shimulia terminal in the last 24 hours and 400 vehicles were still waiting at the terminal to cross the river, he added.
He hoped that all the awaiting vehicles would be able to have easy passage through the terminal if the weather remained favourable.
Shimulia terminal Inspector Md Suleman said that launch movement was normal there with 88 launches plying on the route while the rush of holiday-goers had increased on Friday (Aug 9) compared to the day before.
