Police have submitted a charge sheet against nine people for raping and killing a nurse on a running bus in Kishoreganj.

Of the accused, six have been arrested while three are absconding. The charge sheet says that bus driver Nuruzzman, helper Lalon Mian and the driver’s cousin were directly linked to rape and the killing.

Of the six arrested, three have given confessional statement under clause 164. Koshoreganj Superintendant of police, Mashrukur Rahman, said: “We have submitted a charge sheet against the accused; no criminal will be allowed to go free in this case.”

On May 6, Shahinur Akhter Tania, a nurse at the Ibne Sina Hospital in Kalyanpur, was on her way to Kishoreganj via ‘Shornolata’ bus. When the bus was in Bilpar Gojaria, she was raped and then strangulated to death.

On May 7, the father of the deceased, Md Giasuddin, lodged a case under women and children repression prevention act.
