Two die of dengue in Khulna

KhulnaTwo people have died from dengue fever in Khulna as the mosquito-borne disease continues to spread throughout the country.
15-year-old Md Monjur Sheikh died around 6.30am on Sunday (Aug 4) while being treated at Gazi Medical College and Hospital in Khulna and the other victim 70-year-old Morjina Begum died around 12.30am on Sunday while she was undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
“Initially Monjur’s family couldn’t detect that he is affected of dengue. When the condition deteriorated, he was taken to upazila health complex on Saturday and referred to KMCH. Later, he died at Gazi Medical College and Hospital early on Sunday,” said local UP chairman Md Jahangir Alam.
Dr Partha Pratim Debnath, assistant register of Medicine Department at KMCH, said, “Morjina Begum died of dengue while being treated at the hospital.”
The victim’s family said, Morjina Begum was affected with a liver related disease and for better treatment she was taken to Dhaka where she suffered dengue fever. Late on Saturday, her condition deteriorated and died around 12.30am on Sunday.
