A landslide in Bandarban following heavy rains has left three of a family killed in the hill tract district’s Lama Upazila while another death was reported in a landslide near the district town.
The Lama incident was reported around 1:30pm on Tuesday from Sarai Union, said Upazila administration chief (UNO) Zannat Rumi.
According to Sarai residents, heaps of soil from hill at the Kalaipara fell on a house burying the victims alive. Locals pulled out the bodies of Md Hanif, Rezia Begum and Hanifa Begum from the house.
UNO Rumi said, “The local union council member has informed me and I am on my way to the scene.”
Earlier in the day, another death was reported from a landslide at the Kalaghata hill near the district town.
The victim has been identified as Pratima Rani De, wife of Milan Das.
