'No lawyer to stand for Minni'

Rifat Sarif`s wife Ayesha Siddiqa Minni was produced in Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate court on Wednesday (Jul 17).No lawyer were to be found to fight the legal battle for Aysha Siddiqa Minni, wife and the prime witness of Barguna youth Rifat Sharif`s murder case on Wednesday (Jul 17).

A Barguna court placed Minni on a five-day remand in the case filed over the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif.

Earlier on Tuesday (Jul 16), police showed her arrested in the case after an interrogation for her alleged involvement with the murder of Rifat.

Minni’s family members were desperately searching for a lawyer after she was taken for interrogation on Tuesday. However, the local lawyers avoided their request.

Rifat was hacked to death by criminals, in front of Minni, in broad daylight in the district town on Jun 26. She was the prime witness in the murder case.

Minni's father Moazzem Hossain Kishor said, "I won't be able to stay here if I disclose their names. Several influential people are behind this decision. That's all I can tell you."

On Jul 13, in a media call, Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif, father of Rifat Sharif, demanded immediate arrest of his daughter-in-law Minni.

Till date police have arrested 15 people in the murder case.

The prime accused of the murder case, Nayan Bond, was killed in a 'shootout' on Jul 2.
