Thieves have stolen valuables, gold and cash from three Hindu temples in Narayanganj’s Araihazar Upazila, police said.
Theft took place in Pangaon Karmakarpar village of the upazila in the wee hours of Thursday.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, Makhan Lal Das, president of the temples, said, Dulal Chandra Das, priest of the temples, left for home on the Wednesday night after ending his regular offerings.
The thieves might have entered the temples jumping over walls and broke open the temple gate, local residents told Bangla Tribune that.
On Thursday morning, locals inform him after they found the lock of temple gates broken, said Makhan Lal Das.
Locals said that thieves took gold-made goddess statutes, gold-plated ornaments, ancient metal utensils used to offer worship and two donation boxes full of cash.
On information, police visited the temples.
A case was filed and police were trying to detain the perpetrators, Araihazar police OC MA Haque said.
