Ayesha Akhter Minni, the wife of slain Rifat Sharif who killed in a broad daylight attack, has said that prime suspect Nayan Bond used to harass her before marriage, forced her to talk to him over phone and threatened to kill anyone who came between them.

"When I informed my family of Rifat with whom I had a romantic relation, the marriage was arranged, she said before adding, "I had also told the matter [of Nayan] to my husband."

Recounting the fatal attack on her husband by a group of men armed with sharp weapons, Minni said, "When Nayan and others attacked Rifat in front of the Barguna Government College, I tried to save him, but at that time, bystanders did not come forward after seeing sharp weapons."

Requesting the intervention of the prime minister, Minni demanded justice for his slain husband.

A surveillance camera video of the attack, which has gone viral on social media, shows Minni screaming for help during the attack and trying to prevent the assailants.

Unfortunately, Rifat was critically injured and later died at the Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Rifat’s father has lodged a case accusing 12 persons and the police have already arrested a person, who it has identified as 'Chandan'.
