Twenty villages at Barishal’s Gournadi upazila will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday (Jun 5).
Around 245 families including the students and teachers of the upazila’s Bangila Hamius Qawmi Madrasa fasted 30 days instead of 29 like the rest of the country.
Saying that the hadith says to celebrate Ramadan and Eid based on moon-sighting, he added, “Although the moon sighting committee’s first decision was in coherence with the Quran and Sunnah, their announcement of Eid at 11 pm was incorrect.”
He added that were sticking to the Quran and fasting 30 days.
