The Dhaka-Tangail Highway is significantly congested as the holiday officially kicked off on Tuesday (Jun 4) and holidaymakers are making their way home.
Around 30 kilometres of the highway and 15 kilometres from Elenga to Bangabandhu Bridge saw major tailbacks.According to the drivers, the hold-up is due to the many potholes due to the ongoing construction work on the route.
“There’s been a hold up at the eastern end of the bridge due to the western end not being able to receive cars properly,” said Bangabandhu Bridge OC (east) Mosharraf Hossain.
He added that the police was working to resolve the hold-up and that traffic movement will be normal soon.
