Three children have died after drowning in separate locations at Patuakhali’s Golachipa upazila on Saturday (May 18).

The deceased have been identified as Shahriar Shawon, 7, Sifat, 6, and Mariam Akhter Mousumi, 6, confirmed Golachipa Health Complex doctor Imam Hossain.

Local sources said that Shawon and Sifat fell into a ditch near a mosque in Gabua village when they were playing.

Their families started looking for them when they found the bodies floating on the ditch. They were rushed to the upazila health complex where the doctors declared them dead.

Meanwhile, Mariam Ahkter Mousumi who hailed from the district’s Panpattii union slipped and fell into a pond while she was playing. She was also rushed to the health complex and declared dead.
