Six killed in Bagerhat road crash

At least five people have been killed and twelve other injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Mawa Highway.

The incident was reported around 9.45am on Saturday (May 18) from Kakdanga area in Bagerhat’s Fakirhat Upazila, said police.

Three among the deceased have been identified as 46-year-old Md farhad Hossain, 45-year-old Hekmat Biswas and 60-year-old Kuddus Shikder, said Fakirhat Police OC Abu Zihad Sheikh.

“The bus crashed into a roadside tree in the area when the bus was heading to Gopalganj’s Ghonapara from Khulna’s Rupsha leaving five people dead on the spot along with a pedestrain,” said Bagerhat Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Masud Sarder.

“Injured were rescued from the scene and among them one succumbed to injuries when taken to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex,” said Sarder before adding, “Some of the injured are in critical condition which may rise the death toll.”
