A BSCIC worker has died after his co-worker allegedly pumped air through the man's rectum in Pabna’s Chatmohar Upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Dulal Hossain, 28, a resident of the upazil’s East Tiartala area.
According to sources, on May 9, Dulal requested his co-worker Barat Hossain to give him some air with a dust cleaning machine due to the ongoing heat wave in the BSCIC industrial area.
Barat inserted the air pump pipe into Dulal's rectum.
Dulal was first rushed to Pabna Medical College Hospital and later taken to Rajshahi, where he died on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital in the metropolitan city, Mulgram UP Member Arzan Ali said, quoting the victim's relatives.
Since the incident, suspect Barat Hossain, of the same area, has gone into hiding.
Sadar police station Officer in-Charge Obaidul Haque said it would be clear after an autopsy whether Dulal died because of the air pumped into his rectum.
When contacted, Rafiqul Islam, estate officer of BSCIC, Pabna Industrial Area, said he did know about the matter.
