Sharmin Akhter Tania, 24, who worked as a nurse in a hospital in Dhaka was raped and pushed off a bus, while heading towards her hometown in Kishoreganj on May 6.
The perpetrators had tried to make it look like a road accident. They pushed Tania off the moving bus and then went back to that scene where a crowd had assembled, according to people familiar with the investigation.
They then offered to take the victim to the hospital but took her to a pharmacy instead where they were told to take her to the hospital, they said.
The incident sparked huge outrage across the county as different socio-cultural organisations and professional bodies formed human chains at different areas, including in Dhaka and Kishoreganj, demanding exemplary punishment of the criminals.
