Two killed in Cox’s Bazar fire

Cox`s BazarTwo people, including a child, have been killed in a fire incident which gutted down three houses at Kolatali Light House area in Cox’s Bazar.
The incident was reported around 9:45pm on Saturday (May 11), said fire service officials.
The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Atiqur Rahman and 5-year-old Sadia, daughter of Abdul Monaf.
Meanwhile, Ekram Haseen, a firefighter, was also injured while trying to douse the blaze.
“Two fire-fighting units were dispatched at the area. The fire has been doused. Fire-fighters recovered two bodies at the scene,” said Cox's Bazar Fire Service Deputy Director Abdul Malek.
"We are yet to find out the origin of the fire," said Malek.
Quoting locals, he added: "We have heard that the fire was set intentionally due to a family conflict."
Cox's Bazar Sadar police OC Farid Uddin Khandakar said, "A team of police have been sent at the spot. The bodies have been recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.”
