The dead body of a man in his early thirties has been recovered from Satkhira’s Khushkhali border.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Kabirul.
His family claims that Border Security Forces (BSF) beat him up and poured kerosene in his mouth and left him at the border on Friday (May 10).
Kabirul’s uncle Faruk Hossain said that he went to India’s Duduli area opposite the Kushkhali border on Friday without informing anyone.
“BSF members beat him up and poured kerosene in his mouth. He was left at the border after he fell severely ill,” he said.
He added that Kabirul was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital at 12 am when the doctors declared him dead.
Kushkhali UP Chairman Shafiqul Islam Shyamol said that Kabirul crossed over to bring tea when BSF members beat him up.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-33 chief Golam Mohiuddin Khandaker told the media that he is aware of the incident.
“However, we don’t know for sure yet that BSF killed him. BSF said that they didn’t catch any Bangladeshi citizen,” he said.
Satkhira Sadar police OC Mostafizur Rahman said that Kabirul’s body had signs of assault but whether kerosene was poured in his mouth can only be determined after the medical report.
