A first-grade girl has been allegedly raped by a 18-year-old in Udavpur village of Ajmiriganj upazila in Habiganj.
The accused, Arjon Das, a neighbour of the victim, allegedly took the victim to an adjacent bush around 5pm on Monday (Apr 29) while she was collecting water from a local tubewell, and forced himself on her.
Locals rescued the girl as she screamed for help. The accused, Arjon, reportedly fled the scene.
Locals took the girl to Ajmiriganj Sadar Hospital for immediate treatment.
"We visited the spot. The accused Arjon is on the run. We are trying to capture him," Ajmiriganj police OC Sheikh Najmul Haque told Bangla Tribune.
On-duty doctor of Habiganj Sadar Hospital Kamrul Hasan said: "The girl was admitted to the hospital Monday night. We are giving our best efforts for her treatment."
