A youth has been lynched in a mob attack in Chuadanga, who police say a suspected thief.

The incident was reported from Rail Bazar area of the district town early on Saturday (Apr 27), said police.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Faruque Hossain.

Police said that locals caught the youth red-handed when a gang were stealing at the shops in the area around 3am. Hossain got a good thrashing by the locals while his cohorts managed to escape.

Critically injured, Hossain was rescued by police and taken to the state-owned hospital in Chuadanga where doctor declared him dead.

Police have arrested another two members of the gang on information gleaned from Hossain before his death, said, Chuadanga police OC Abu Zihad Fakhrul Alam Khan.
