Bodies of four boys were recovered from a pond at a village in Chandpur's Hajiganj municipality on Tuesday morning, a day after they went missing.
The deceased were identified as Rahul, 11, Shamim, 10, Raihan, 10, Liyon, 9.
Jabedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station, said, their family members on Monday evening alerted locals about the missing boys through megaphones.
“We were informed about the bodies in the morning and later recovered them from the pond,” he said.
Locals said that the boys went missing after they had gone to the pond for a bath on Monday.
Their families, however, claim the boys knew how to swim.
Local councillor Shuku Mia said that the families will not file any complaint about the deaths.
