Police have arrested two key suspects in the murder of Rangamati’s Naniarchar Upazila Chairman Shaktiman Chakma.
Rangamati residents Ripon Chakma and Sunil Tripura were held from Ashulia in Dhaka’s Savar Upazila on Saturday, said police.
Ashulia police’s Sub Inspector Farhad Chhoton said a raid was conducted in Buribazar area on a tip-off.
“The arrests were made on information provided by the Rangamati police,” said Inspector Jabed Masud.
On the morning of May 3, Shaktiman Chakma was shot dead while entering his office in Naniarchar Upazila.
The 52-year-old was a vice president of Jana Sanghati Samity (MN Larma faction).
