Two ‘drug peddlers’ killed in Rajshahi

Bodies of alleged drug traders in RMCH.Two drug traders were killed in a ‘shootout’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Karamja area of the metropolitan around 11pm on Thursday.
The victims could not be identified immediately. But they were drug peddlers, claimed RAB.
According to an SMS sent by RAB-5, an incident of ‘gunfight’ occurred at Karamja area between drug peddlers and the members of RAB, leaving two killed on the spot. A huge amount of drug, arms and bullets were recovered from the spot.
Billal Uddin, duty officer at Emergency Department of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), said RAB brought two bodies aged nearly 30 to 40 years to the hospital on Thursday midnight.
Major A M Ashraful Islam, deputy captain of RAB-5, said drug traders fired on RAB members when they went on a drive against the drug. The elite force also fired on them for self-defence, leaving the two killed.
