Representational imageA fire that broke out at a supermarket in Chattogram has been doused.
The newly-built three-storey ‘Shopping Bag’ near the Almas cinema hall at Kazir Dewri in the port city, caught fire around 6:20am on Saturday (Apr 6), said the fire service.
Being informed, firefighters went to the spot and brought the fire under control around 8am.
However, the cause and extent of damage of the fire, which started on the second floor, could not be ascertained immediately.
"We had to struggle to extinguish the fire as the shop was constructed in such way that made the room sealed from all sides, with no open windows,” said Purna Chandra Mutshuddi, deputy assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service.
"However, no casualties have been reported," said the fire service official.
