The police has lodged a case for an attack on a police outpost during the agitation of jute workers in Khulna. In the case, 200-250 persons were accused. It’s believed that in the ransacking of the station, four police members were injured.
Daulatpur police acting OC Kazi Mostaq Ahmed confirmed the case and said, “We have CCTV footage and legal steps are being taken after orders from high ups.”Additional police commissioner Moniruzzaman Mithu said, “Suddenly a rumour spread that a worker was detained by the police which angered the other workers, who began pelting stones at the station followed by an attack; at this time, the police showed restraint.”
Labour leader Khalilur Rahman said, “This was done by outsiders, not the workers; outsiders infiltrated the peaceful procession of labourers and wanted to stir up anarchy.”
He thanked the police for their patience.
