Voting suspended in Kishoreganj’s Katiadi upazila

Voting has been suspeded at Kishorganj`s Katiadi upazila due to allegations of irregularitiesVoting at Kishorganj’s Katiadi upazila has been suspended on allegations of irregularities.

Returning Officier Md Tajul Islam made the announcement on Sunday (Mar 24) morning after he received complaints that ballot papers were stamped the night before.

Two police officers have been withdrawn over the incident, Islam said.

However, voting at 12 other upazila’s are underway.

“There are a total of 89 voting centres at Katiadi upazila. After receiving allegations that ballots were stuffed the night before, voting in the upazila has been suspended altogether,” said Islam before adding that the re-polls date will be declared later.

Two police officers— Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shafiqul Islam and Katiadi police OC Md Shamsuddin have been withdrawn for their suspected involvement in the vote rigging attempt.
