Voter presence sparse in Rangpur upazila elections

At the Dangirhaat School Centre, only 350 votes were cast until 10am in the morning against a total of 2432 votes.Election is underway in six upazilas in Rangpur from Mar 18 morning though voter presence is reported to be sparse. Election officials feel that as the day progresses, the number of voters may rise.
At the Dangirhaat School Centre, only 350 votes were cast until 10am in the morning against a total of 2432 votes, informed presiding officer Abdus Sabur.
At the Harialikuthi centre, 200 votes were cast from a total of 2091 voters.
At the Dangirhaat School Centre, only 350 votes were cast until 10am in the morning against a total of 2432 votes.No agent of independent candidate, Shahinur Rahman Marshall, is seen and reportedly his polling agents were driven out by men supporting Awami League candidate, Anisur Rahman Liton.
Refuting this allegation, supporters of Anisur Rahman said that the independent candidate could not give a polling agent.
In Gangachora and Kaunia, AL candidate Ruhul Amin and Anwarul Islam Maya were elected without any contest.
The other upazilas seeing election are: Taraganj, Badarganj, Pirgacha and Pirganj.
