Five robbers have been held in Bagerhat’s Morrelganj Upazila as they were trying to flee after robbing a house at Sarankhola Upazila, said police.

Locals caught the robbers at Keyar Bazar area in Nishanbaria union around 5am on Saturday (Mar 2) before handing them over to Morrelganj police.

Later, Morrelganj police handed the robbers to Sarankhola police.

The detainees have been identified as Babu, 22, Abdur Rahim Khan 21, Sagor 26, Babul, 25 and Mehedi Hasan, 27.

According to the locals, they managed to catch the robbers after they robbed a house at Sarankhola’s Dhamsagor village and were fleeing.

“A case will be filed over the incident,” said Sarankhola police OC Dilip Kumar Sarkar.
