Iqbalnagar poling centre in KCC pollsAuthorities had to shut voting in three polling stations in Khulna after incidents of violence erupted.

Presiding Officer Ali Hossain said that they stopped the electoral activities at the polling centre no 278 under the Ward no 31 of the city around 2:30pm after ballot boxes were snatched away.

Ballot casting was also put to an end at the polling centre in Iqbalnagar Girls High School in Ward 22 after some 15 people stormed the centre and stuffed boxes with stamped ballots, Assistant Presiding Officer of the centre Nurul Islam said.
BNP-backed councilor aspirant Mahabub Kayes of Ward 22 filed a written complaint to the election office early afternoon on Tuesday seeking cancelation of polls in his ward alleging large scale vote rigging.
Voting was also suspended at the Haji Malek Salehia Darus Sunnat Madrasa polling station, Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed told the media in Dhaka after the polls closed.
Polls closed at 4pm on Tuesday amid allegations rigging and violence, but the commission said it was largely peaceful, apart from ‘some isolated incidents’.
