A BNP-backed councilor aspirant sought cancelation of polls in his ward alleging large scale vote rigging.
Mahabub Kayes who vied for the councilor of Ward 22 filed a written complaint to the Returning Officer Yunuch Ali early afternoon on Tuesday.
Incumbent councilor Kayes said, “Large-scale rigging happened at several centres in our ward. Voters were stopped from going to the centre. My polling agents were assaulted by the rivals.”
“Supporters of the rival candidates intimated voters to stamp before entering the booth; if anyone refused, their ballots were snatched away,” he said.
