Sultan Mohammad Monsur Ahmed and M Naser RahmanThe new MP-elect Sultan Mohammad Monsur Ahmed and BNP’s district unit President M Naser Rahman have visited the arrested leaders and activists of their Moulvibazar constituencies in prison.
The two Oikya Front leaders who both contested the polls with ‘paddy sheaf’ visited the arrested leaders and activists in their own areas on Tuesday (Jan 1) afternoon.
M Naser, who lost the Moulvibazar-3 constituency, visited the imprisoned activists as well as spoke to their families who were present at the prison premises.
“We did not lose the polls. We were defeated by vote stealing,“ Naser said, adding that the police started arresting BNP activists and leaders soon after the polls schedule was announced.
He alleged that the night before the polls, law enforcers helped the Awami League candidate win by stamping the ballots on behalf of ‘boat.’
On the other hand, Oikya Front’s pick and former vice president of Dhaka University Central Student's Union (DUCSU) Sultan Mohammad Monsur, who won Moulvibazar-2, consoled the imprisoned activists and their families.
“You have given the oppressors a fitting reply through the vote,” he said, adding, “I did not carry out victory processions because my fellow leaders are in prison for false cases.”
The law enforcers put more than a few hundred opposition activists behind bars in the four Moulvibazar seats prior to the national polls.
