Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOAwami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has pledged to “learn from the mistakes of the past and keep the stream of prosperity flowing.”
His remarks came while exchanging greetings with the residents of Noakhali on Monday (Dec 31).
Calling on AL activists to refrain from carrying out victory rallies, he said, that this victory was not about merrymaking.
“Celebrate the win with reserve and restraint and don’t misbehave with others.” He said that they must move forward keeping in mind that power in politics has both ebb and flow.
Talking about the Dec 30 elections, Quader said that although there were sporadic incidents of violent clashes in some places, his Noakhali-5 constituency has witnessed violence free polls.
“We might have made some mistakes but we will rectify them and move forward,” he said, adding, “We do not believe in politics of violence.”
He added that the AL leaders must follow Sheikh Hasina’s order to the book and refrain from being violent towards their competitors.
